Get to know the name Ethan Howard, one of the most talented pastry chefs in the San Francisco Bay area. Howard's playful dessert ensemble includes a hot butterscotch soufflé that reaches new heights in body and taste and a playful deconstructed cherry pie turned upside down. His whimsical creations lack any conceit. Howard's "home," Murray Circle, recently opened in San Francisco's breathtaking Cavallo Point - The Lodge at the Golden Gate, located within the span of the Golden Gate Bridge. From here, the executive pastry chef whips up a bevy of American-themed desserts as aesthetically interesting as the setting. Between services, Howard shares his secrets at Cavallo Point's cooking school. Howard's foray into the restaurant world began at Fleur de Lys in San Francisco, then Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro in New York. He later served as pastry chef for Thomas Keller's Bouchon as well as ad hoc in Yountville, California, before moving to the Martini House in St. Helena.
