Tasting Notes: Founded in 1970, Montevina was the first winery to be opened in the Sierra Foothills following the repeal of Prohibition. In the mid-1980s Montevina created the Terra d’Oro label to focus on Amador County-grown grapes, especially Zinfandel. The 2013 Chenin Blanc & Viognier combines Viognier from the winery’s estate vineyards in Amador County with Chenin Blanc from Clarksburg in the Sacramento Delta. The result is a crisp, aromatic white wine perfect for summer sipping. In the mouth, it displays refreshing flavors of mango, papaya and pineapple with hints of apricot and lychee.
Food Pairings: Thai curry, fish tacos, Waldorf salad, mild cheeses
