Tasting Notes: Virginia Marie Lambrix’s namesake winery is located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Known mostly for Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, the winery, which opened in 2011, also offers several other varietals at its tasting room, including a vibrant Zinfandel. But it’s the 2013 Rosé of Pinot Noir that is the most recent shining star. Produced using the saignée method, allowing the wine limited contact with the skin, each bottle provides enlivening aromas of watermelon, white peach and gardenia. Red fruit shows on the palate amid tastes of strawberries, raspberries and cherries. This is a fun, approachable wine perfect for summer outings.
Food Pairings: Greek salad, fish tacos, salmon, goat cheeses
