13.5% Wine Bar + Food Restaurant Review:
Located on “The Avenue” (36th Street) in Baltimore’s “it” neighborhood, Hampden, 13.5% Wine Bar + Food is unique for its 200-bottle and 40 by-the-glass wine selections. The place has a resale license, so patrons can buy and take home their favorite bottle of wine. If wine isn’t your thing, the restaurant offers a nice collection of craft beers and cocktails. Its minimalist European design was refreshed with renovations, which expanded the seating and added a retractable façade for alfresco dining and a stage for late-night entertainment. As much as the spot is about the wine, it is also about the food. Choose from international small plates: lamb meatballs, Korean wings, street tacos. Don’t fret, there is also the good all-American butcher’s burger on a brioche bun. The menu changes regularly, but if you are lucky, a unique, flaky, herb-scented slice of pie crust-based pizza will be available. Whether it’s the chef’s creations, the charcuterie or the international cheeses, the array has earned the “+ Food” part in 13.5%’s name.
