5Church Atlanta Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Coming to Midtown's Colony Square, Charlotte-based 5Church completely revamped the interior of shuttered Shout, using a white-and-black color palette punctuated by brilliant white lamps and faux feathered lighting suspended from the ceiling.
Food & Drinks: The cuisine is designated as "New American," a term that seems to mean tapping a variety of culinary traditions. Flavors run a wide range from Southern shrimp and grits to an appetizer of charred octopus. Steaks include a top-of-the-line Wagyu selection. 5Church's burger is based on lamb, and vegetarians will find a truffle risotto along with lots of salad choices. Brunch selections look substantial, with such offerings as steak, fries and a pair of eggs. S'Mores Floating Island is among the more tempting desserts. There's a late-night menu as well. The wine list covers an array of tastes, and includes a considerable collection of bubbles. How about a glass of Banyuls with that S'Mores Floating Island?
