Albany Pump Station/C.H. Evans Brewing Co. Restaurant Review:
This spot makes its home in a former city pump station, located in the historic Quackenbush Square section of downtown Albany. With lofty spaces, exposed brick walls, old grappling hooks and a fireplace, the Albany Pump Station retains traces of the past while employing modern brewing technology. The beers brewed on the premises (at least seven at any time) are available on tap, getting the thumbs-up from discerning beer fans. The fairly extensive menu features upscale pub food including a calamari appetizer and entrées like the maple-glazed pork tenderloin served with mashed sweet potatoes and acorn squash stuffed with apples and walnuts. While you will certainly be encouraged to eat, drink and be merry (while keeping the kids in line), it won’t be a late night---they usually close at 10 p.m.
