Almeida Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review:
Almeida Restaurant & Bar’s large, bold interior is fitting given its attachment to the Almeida Theater, one of London’s best non-West End venues. It’s great in the evenings, but seems bleak if not full at lunchtime. Clever daily changing menus have something for everyone. Choose a warming roasted pumpkin soup with venison sausage roll to start, or go for the always topnotch charcuterie board with a generous selection. Mains range from steamed pollock with crab and mussels to roasted loin of venison with creamed cabbage. Small plates are served at the bar. The children’s menu is sensible and the lunch menu a value. Prices are reasonable; there’s a good wine list. Service is professional. Set 2-course lunch, pre- and post-theatre menu 2 courses £19, 3 courses £22.
