Alta Restaurant Review:

This stylish West Village restaurant specializes in Mediterranean fare, with an emphasis on small plates --- 40-plus options in all. Standouts include the crispy Brussels sprouts served with crème fraîche, Granny Smith apples and pistachios, as well as the fried goat cheese balls with a lavender-infused honey sauce. On the more substantive side is the squid ink paella of shellfish, chorizo and preserved lemon. If you're dining with a group, consider going for "the whole shebang" (i.e. one of everything on the menu.) Wash it all down with a glass of potent sangria (red or white). An extensive Mediterranean-focused wine list; a creative cocktail menu; and an even more inventive dessert selection including labne cheesecake and a walnut rosehip sundae are also offered.
