THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Amazon Grill Restaurant Review:
Can one of the best upscale restaurants in Houston actually bring its food to the masses with a casual counter café? Believe it. Michael Cordúa of Churrasco's and Américas has accomplished it with his Amázon Grill, which features his signature Central and South American cuisine. Though you may pay more than you would at McDonald's, you can't compare apples to plantains. Who could argue with the scrumptious Amazon, a fire-roasted corn crusted chicken breast, or the Peru, which wraps the chicken breast in potato slices. Meat dishes include the puelto lico, an achiote-rubbed, wood-grilled pork loin, and the Gallo Pinto, pulled beef tenderloin served with red beans and rice. Kids are crazy for the s'mores that they make right on the table with a tiny grill. And adults should not forego the dessert that put Churrasco's on the pastry map: tres leches. This sinfully simple cake features three creams in its dense vanilla cake, topped with a creamy merinque. No wonder it's at the top of the menu with the question, Stressed? It's a sure cure for what ails you.
