Amber Restaurant Review:
Amber is modest and unpretentious with its bamboo décor and private back room affording an intimacy and coziness that suits the eclectic Pan-Asian offerings. An exhaustive menu demands the diner be adventurous. We suggest the creative makis like the "angry lobster" tempura roll with lettuce, avocado, cucumber and spicy lobster sauce, or the Tuna-Gaga with seared pepper big-eye tuna, albacore and spicy mayo. The Kumamoto oyster platter drizzled with a citrus dressing and with golden tobiko is as refreshing as it is surprising. Affordably priced fish, steak and fowl show their gastronomic edginess with dishes like sangría crispy duck in a red wine sauce with mango, pineapple and asparagus, and filet mignon encased in a black pepper sauce with fried sweet potatoes. Cocktails are part of the creative show with selections such as ginger mojitos, green tea margaritas and lychee martinis.
