Thoughtfully sourced local ingredients shine at Anchor Woodfire Kitchen & Bar.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Anchor Woodfire Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:
Chef/owner Jason Tuley’s ambitious eatery follows the pattern of his former restaurant, Square One, which emphasized thoughtfully sourced local ingredients and in-house preparation of virtually everything. Located near the waterfront in Santa Barbara’s hip Hotel Indigo, Anchor Woodfire Kitchen & Bar turns out more than wood-fired pizzas; you’ll also find oak-grilled fish and lobster from the Channel Islands, as well as dry-aged steaks, pasta dishes and uncommon appetizers like rabbit sausage and a salad of pickled vegetables. The breakfast menu features brioche french toast with house-made bacon and a bourbon-maple syrup. Pizza toppings include ridgeback shrimp and local mushrooms. There’s a nice selection of creative cocktails, too. And if you’re a fan of cheesecake, Tuley makes his with Drake Family Farms goat cheese, house-made ricotta and honey gastrique.
