Arnold’s Country Kitchen Restaurant Review:
Steer your fork to Arnold's if you want a taste of Middle Tennessee. Located just on the cusp of downtown in the shadow of a rail trestle, Arnold's is master of the “meat-and-three,” which around here means a choice of meat plus three vegetables, though some opt for meat-and-two. Line up for the steam table, grab a tray and silverware, and prepare to be sated. Greens tempt with the scent of pork used as a seasoning meat. Fried chicken is golden crisp and juicy. Hearty meatloaf is well seasoned and often made from locally sourced meat. Fried apples, mashed potatoes and gravy, stewed okra and that only-in-the-South vegetable, macaroni and cheese, are all quite good. Don’t forget a bowl of banana pudding, slice of chess pie or peach pie when the season supplies the fruit. No alcohol is served, so have some iced tea.
