About the restaurant: After 20 years of cooking and catering events, chef Akasha Richmond finally opened her own place in the historic Hull Building in downtown Culver City. An impressive interior design respects Richmond’s love of the earth: walls are made of reclaimed barn wood; recycled glass tiles are used for the floor; mobile-like lighting fixtures are equipped with LED bulbs; and chairs are made with organic leather. Outdoor dining is available along Culver Boulevard and in the “piazza.” (Diners may also opt for takeout.)

Food & Drinks: A health-minded menu starts with market beets with avocado, cherry tomato, and miso-sesame dressing; hummus with olives and crudités; and Roman-style pizza (with vegan cheese upon request). Larger plates include burgers, tofu curry and Vietnamese style chicken cauliflower fried rice. Side dishes feature onion rings and roasted vegetables, french fries, and mac ‘n’ cheese. End on a sweet note with the salty chocolate peanut bar with peanut butter gelato. Specialty cocktails are composed with organic spirits and fresh juices, of course, and wines are sourced from small boutique producers focusing on organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices.
