Alexander's Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
This Bay Area import offers a luxurious dining experience in a modern setting. The dining room features an open kitchen fronted by shimmering silver tiles, a peaked ceiling and hockey-puck-shaped chandeliers. Little Gem and romaine salad riffs on the Caesar with pungency from anchovy miso dressing and creative squid ink baguette croutons. Myriad steaks, some dry-aged for 28 days, cook on the wood grill. Where Alexander's excels is with Wagyu, which it sources from four Japanese prefectures. Miyazaki A5 oozes fat, sports a judicious sear and comes with six salts. Sides include mac ‘n’ cheese with udon, caramelized Mornay and truffle panko. If you’re feeling flush, Alexander's offers a seasonal eight-course tasting menu for $175, with beverage pairings for an additional $75. Order citrus or aromatic drinks, or submit to omakase. Wine is also a viable option thanks to a bound 14-page menu. Dessert choices include a creative soufflé inspired by the classic flavors of peanut butter and jelly.
