Bar Cento Restaurant Review:
Boasting a European-inspired menu featuring local and organic ingredients, Bar Cento is led by chef Andrew Bower, who cares as much for his customers as he does the community. The bustling, affordable bistro is neighbor to McNulty’s Bier Market, and the friendly staff extend a welcome with a visible kitchen, suitably raucous music and a well-thought-out wine list that includes many --- cento, or 100, to be exact --- boutique wines. Diners can choose to sit at the handcrafted wooden bar or the space’s cozy tables while feasting on a big board of meats, cheeses and house-pickled vegetables. Start with the pomme frites, which are hot and salty. From there, brick-oven pizza with its thin, charred crust is the way to go (though, to be fair, entrées are equally delightful). Our favorite pies are the apple and prosciutto pizza topped with blue cheese and thyme, or the sunny-side, finished with provolone, house-made pancetta and, of course, an egg. For dessert, the sweet corn pot de crème served with black raspberry compote, cornmeal zeppole, brown butter caramel and raspberry whey ice cream is the ultimate indulgence.
