Cantina Los Caballitos Restaurant Review:
Families with kids and a friendly crowd of locals rub elbows at this neighborhood spot. Start with a tower of loaded cheesy nachos --- you can even add on vegan beef, a nod to the many available veggie items. On the lighter side, try one of the daily ceviches or any of the botanos (snacks), especially the garlicky grilled shrimp and zesty chicken wings. Then there are the authentic, tender goat tacos with onions and cilantro and mammoth burritos, with the mahi mahi especially good. A watercress salad delivers antioxidants to spare, along with artichoke escabeche, corn nuts and creamy cilantro dressing. We recommend the huevos rancheros for brunch. The bar gets mobbed for the late-night happy hour and the kitchen stays open until 1 a.m.
