Council Oak Steaks & Seafood Restaurant Review:
Council Oak specializes in steak as well as line-caught seafood from local waters and is so named for the oak tree under which Seminole Tribe leaders would traditionally meet. For appetizers, look for the colossal shrimp cocktail, stuffed clams (actually poached in a wine sauce) and escargots. The popular Alaskan king crab legs come fresh from the Bering Sea. A nice surprise is the lobster pot: chunks of cold-water lobster poached in butter and cream with diced pancetta, arugula and a touch of truffle oil. Steak selections include a long bone cowboy rib-eye (24 ounces); other entrées range from Prime roast beef to twin Australian cold-water lobster tails and whole Maine lobsters --- even spaghetti and meatballs. Or opt for the crispy free-range organic chicken, served over herb-scented quinoa and topped with a cranberry gastrique.
