Dog Haus Restaurant Review:
With the arrival of hot dog boutiques like The Stand, Wurstküche and Slaw Dogs, franks and sausages have become very fashionable. This Pasadena shop offers all-beef skinless dogs on sweet Hawaiian bread rolls, which rank among the best in town. The "Sooo Cali" is topped with greens, tempura-fried onions, basil aïoli and avocado, while a fried egg and smashed tater tots are layered over a dog with smoked bacon in the "Grand Slam" --- it's hard to eat, but easy to like. You can also build your own dog with a variety of ingredients, or opt for French rolls stuffed with sausages like bratwurst, andouille or spicy Italian. The Dog Haus also has a repertoire of Angus beef burgers, and for dessert there are shakes and malts made with Straus Family Creamery ice cream. The dimly lit black-and-red space is lined with picnic tables topped with various condiments, ideal for a quick meal. Other locations.
