Eleven Madison Park Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: A night on the town in New York can very well be spent at a Broadway show, but we suggest venturing a bit farther south of the Theater District for an evening of epicurean entertainment at Eleven Madison Park. Chef Daniel Humm demonstrates theatrical flair while presenting a fine-dining experience that will be engraved in your memory for a long time. The stage is a landmark Art Deco building with 35-foot-high windows overlooking Madison Square Park.
Food & Drinks: Chef Humm has started a new chapter with the change to a plant-based menu. Adjacent to the dining room is a bar that offers a tasting menu (six courses for $195) at tables in the bar area. The dining room tasting menu is $365 for 8-10 courses; wine pairings available for additional cost. Expect to devote three or four hours to the full experience as this "play" is made up of many acts, with little diversions along the way. Tonburi, the seeds of the Japanese summer cypress tree, are highlighted as “caviar of the field” with peas and baby lettuce. Other dishes might feature cucumber with melon and smoked daikon; summer squash with lemongrass and marinated tofu; and eggplant with tomato and coriander accompanied by summer beans and corn with juniper. The exemplary wine list touches on topnotch selections from around the world. No less elaborate is the tea service, where the leaves are brewed three times so guests may taste how the flavors evolve. There are also ales and spirits made exclusively for Eleven Madison Park by Threes Brewing and St. George Spirits. The well-trained staff members operate like an immaculate machine.
