Although the menu may entice, try ordering the old-fashioned way and ask the waiter what’s good tonight. Standouts abound, and the simple truth is that it’s hard to go wrong with offerings such as handcrafted squid ink tagliolini with a sea-net full of clams, shrimp, mussels and calamari; or halibut arrosto with winter root vegetables confit and Taggiasca olive tapenade. The grill does especially fine work with quality steaks and chops. A gargantuan one-pound rack of veal chop makes an impressive display, brought to the table in a 3-D presentation. Service is professional, whether the staff is handling food or wine. Speaking of wine, the list is heavy on Italian and American selections, all designed to pair well with the food. Among desserts, the homemade lemon gelato is a real treat.
