Harwood Arms Restaurant Review:
The co-owners of this pretty, rustic-looking gastropub are Brett Graham of The Ledbury fame and Mike Robinson, who owns the Pot Kiln in Berkshire, so you’re assured of top quality before the first forkful hits your waiting palate. The kitchen is known for its game, while seasonality is the second claim to fame. Expect the likes of baked beetroot with goat cheese, pistachio, blackberry and bitter leaves, followed by Norfolk quail smoked in hay with carrot, black cabbage and blood orange. Or perhaps Cornish cod with white anchovy, cauliflower, kale and seaweed. They are dishes that sing of the British countryside and all its produce. It’s very well done, in a setting of wooden floors, tables and chairs that is deliberately low-key. Being a pub, albeit a very sophisticated one, there’s a great and unusual range of real ales on draught.
