Heck’s Café Restaurant Review:


The Avon outpost of this Ohio City favorite is fresh and modern with a menu to match. The space is bright and airy with plenty of windows and outdoor seating as well as a large u-shaped bar anchoring the lounge area. Crafted by Jared Bergen, formerly chef at Dante in Tremont, the menu features chef-driven dishes for lunch and dinner. There are a half dozen salads and a mix of starters and small plates. Begin with the beer-battered onion rings served with a spicy aïoli, then dive into one of the two-fisted gourmet burgers made with a combination of brisket, shoulder and top cuts of beef. We recommend The Market Burger made with braised short ribs, béarnaise and arugula. If you’re looking for something that requires fewer napkins, go for the cast iron blackened salmon over a bright red pepper coulis with asparagus and crispy potato wedges. Other specialties include lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, wild mushroom ravioli, filet and rib-eye. For dessert, there are six sweet choices. Our favorite is the salted caramel pretzel bread pudding. There is a range of wines available on tap, by the glass or by the bottle and eight local, craft and seasonal beers on tap. Sunday brunch is also notable and perfect for the whole family.
