La Caille Restaurant Review:
La Caille (French for "The Quail") is located in an eighteenth-century French-inspired château in Little Cottonwood Canyon, an area about twenty miles outside of Salt Lake City. Grab a glass of wine from the extensive selection of wines by the glass (455 wines by the bottle) and stroll the 22-acre grounds. The restaurant has four dining rooms, five patios, and a 12,000-square-foot pavilion, but even with all that, reservations are always recommended. The sit-down Sunday brunch with french toast baked crème brûlée-style or Welsh rarebit and pork chops with an ale and sharp cheddar sauce will satisfy most appetites. At dinner, dishes from the contemporary French menu are served by bustiered waitresses in period costumes. Avoid the steaks and instead choose the rack of New Zealand lamb with a Grand Marnier glaze or the pan-roasted Eastern duck with seasonal fruit Cognac sauce.
