Matsuri Restaurant Review:
This South Baltimore eatery is fresh and appealing with its black-and-white tile floor and blonde-wood sushi bar. A refurbished upstairs doesn't have quite the same charm, but at least now there won't always be a wait at dinnertime. (The upstairs room can also be reserved for private parties.) Matsuri covers all the standards, from topnotch sushi and maki to steamy bowls of nabeyaki udon topped with shrimp tempura and brothy buckwheat soba littered with fresh vegetables. The robatayaki items from the grill---absolutely try the squid---hit regular home-runs. But every day's triple-play comes in the form of the lacquered bento boxes, in which arrive delightfully composed meals, complete with miso soup and house salad.
