Mattison’s City Grille Restaurant Review:
Paul Mattison is at the helm---there’s also the restaurant Mattison’s Forty-One in Sarasota and a flourishing catering company that brings his particular brand of gastronomic fun to wherever you are. The Grille adds a little vim and vinegar to the downtown dining scene. It’s casual, hopping, with Italian-ish small plates and pizzas and lots of pretty people. It feels more urban than many of the other downtown restaurants, with great outdoor seating, cool wine events and cigar dinners, and live jazz nightly. It's Sarasota's obvious choice for girls'-night-out shenanigans (jewel-toned Cosmos and a few nibbles of antipasto misto), but equally adept at Mother's Day brunch with a suave omelet or Italian-inflected frittata.
