Pizzeria Delfina Restaurant Review:

Located next door to their restaurant Delfina, Craig and Anne Stoll's pizzeria offers six traditional Neapolitan-inspired pies and two daily specials that come out of the oven with thin, blistery, charred crusts. The cornichone (lip or edge) of each pizza is always predictably puffed---chewy inside with a crisp, slightly salty exterior. The classic margherita is as good as you'll find in the Bay Area, with full moons of gooey mozzarella, sweet, ripe tomatoes and basil. Another standout, the clam pie, features fresh briny cherrystone clams and hot peppers, but the Salsiccia, with house-made fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers and onions, is a not-to-miss on the list. Daily padella (in the pan) specials such as spicy Calabrese sausage with pepperonata, chicken al cacciatore, and meatballs in a classic Neapolitan meat sauce are available. The wine list offers 20 Italian bottles under $45. End the meal with a fresh ricotta cannoli or the zeppole---an off-menu dessert of fried pizza dough topped with mascarpone and powdered sugar. A sparse, modern interior is complemented by heated sidewalk seating, perfect for people-watching.
