Red 36 Restaurant Review:

No Connecticut restaurant takes better advantage of its waterside location than Red 36. Finding it is a bit tricky, but signs will guide you through Seaport Marine. When the weather's warm, walls vanish to make even the indoor bar and dining area refreshingly open-air. Claim a seat on the deck, where the outdoor bar, nautical lounge and tables provide views of boats along the Mystic. With a rum drink, local beer or spiked Fishers Island Lemonade in hand, we like to order a multi-course feast. Raw bar selections from New England waters, crispy fried oysters, smoked salmon chips and lobster corn fritters highlight the appetizers. Flatbreads topped with everything from clam to lamb are perfect for sharing (deeply discounted during Tuesday through Friday happy hours), but you'll want a hot, buttered lobster roll all to yourself. That is, if you can resist larger courses such as pork tenderloin with cheddar mac ‘n’ cheese. While we wouldn’t call the food extraordinary, the overall experience is. With seasonal vanilla ice cream-topped desserts like strawberry shortcake and blueberry crisp, you may still find yourself here as the water shimmers with sunset hues and sailboats.
