The Sea By Alexander's Steakhouse Awards
This seafood concept from Alexander's Steakhouse delivers quality ocean fare without leaving the steak behind.
The Sea By Alexander's Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
While the name is a mouthful, it tells the tale clearly: this concept from Alexander's Steakhouse brings a much needed high-end seafood restaurant to the Peninsula --- while still offering Alexander's classic cuts of steak all the way from Prime to Wagyu. Soft leather, pale wood, and modern fixtures define the expansive location in a fully remodeled version of the former Trader Vic's. Japanese influences lace the menu as they do at the original steakhouse. To start, try the hamachi shots with truffled ponzu, Dungeness crab salad with purple rice or the signature "under the sea" salad with crispy seaweed, agar and tosaganori. The array of oysters changes regularly and caviar is offered both in domestic and imported form. Entrées are sourced wild and worldwide, with tuna from Hawaii, John Dory from New Zealand and butter soft, king salmon from Washington, grilled to a mid-rare. For those not inclined to ocean fare, a scaled down line-up of steakhouse favorites is available, including duck and veal along with the requisite cuts of beef. For dessert, we recommend the soufflé to share --- be sure to order ahead. The wine program is thoughtful across a balanced list of California and international selections, and cocktails change with the season. Service can be sparse and slow.
