Shula's Steak House Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: Shula’s has a built-in clientele of conventioneers at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, and is definitely not as family-friendly as most of the Disney World restaurants. But if you’re looking for a pricy piece of beef, make a reservation. The themed restaurant pays homage to the 1972 Miami Dolphins' 17-0 perfect season, the NFL's only unbeaten team, and the décor includes pictures and game footballs from the '72 season.
> EDITOR'S NOTE: We are sad to learn that Don Shula passed away on May 4, 2020. Shula reached the Super Bowl six times and posted a 347-173 record in his 33 seasons as a head coach.
About the food & drinks: The clubby atmosphere is just fine when you're in the mood for a thick, juicy steak with wine. The nicely grilled slabs of meat are enormous --- a 22-ounce cowboy rib-eye, 48-ounce porterhouse --- and there’s even a four-pound Maine lobster. We're amazed that diners start with an appetizer, though the half-dozen seasonal oysters and colossal shrimp cocktail are classic choices. We recommend the gargantuan wedge of crisp iceberg that's plenty for two to nibble. The salad and a steak make a good combination, but you can add mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach or truffle cream corn if you’d like. The thought of all those calories may force you to skip dessert --- unless the attentive servers have already convinced you to order the chocolate soufflé for two. With all that self-indulgence, why not go for broke? We can almost guarantee leftovers.
