Tim Ho Wan Restaurant Review:
Chef Mak left Lung King Heen at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong to start his own restaurant, Tim Ho Wan. The cheap prices, modest exterior and informal atmosphere of his first outlet (there are now three, including in IFC Mall underneath the Four Seasons) come in stark contrast with the quality of the food, making this the dim sum destination of choice for price conscious diners and gourmands alike. Locals and tourists wait hours to feast on dim sum delicacies like the barbecued pork buns, cheong fun rice rolls and pan-fried turnip cake. Rarely does a dim sum venue offer equally alluring desserts; however, here the chilled jelly with osmanthus flowers and wolf berries finishes off a meal on a sweet high note. Complement the food with Chinese tea.
