About the restaurant: This is a music lover’s heaven---a South Philly landmark that looks the same today as it did when Caruso’s high Cs ruled the Met. Clearly, opera is the thing---the walls are papered with photos of opera greats. And the waiters, opera students and aspiring stars, sing throughout the evening.

Food: Even the food---pasta alla Caruso, fettuccine Guiseppe Verdi, petti di pollo la Tosca---gets into the act. All the classic dishes are in the spotlight and well prepared. Have a big salad, and a big pasta, and bask in the waiters' attention and, of course, the music. Ideal for a special occasion---happy birthday doesn't get any better.
