Yabba Island Grill Restaurant Review:
All clustered on one block of downtown Naples, Pazzo, Chops and Yabba are owned and operated by the same people, folks who clearly specialize in hip, waitlist-for-miles kinds of places. Like the other restaurants in the family, this outpost has the same drama and excitement that only a popular restaurant can generate, but in this case the food is a little goofier. It’s an island-themed menu in which there’s one too many ingredients in everything and a piled-up architectural approach that makes eating hazardous to your clothing and tablemates. Add to this a topnotch rum list and good island cocktails, and the dry-cleaning bills are bound to be rough. Still, the sugar cane-skewered grilled chicken with sweet-and-spicy barbecue sauce, or the batter-fried grouper and chips served with paw-paw slaw and Jumbie Pepper malt vinegar are worth trying. The focused wine list is very affordable.
