B.A.D. Sushi Restaurant Review:

An all-purpose, good value sushi bar in Old Pasadena, B.A.D. --- it stands for “Best And Delicious,” by the way --- has a surprisingly extensive menu. Small plates include tempura-fried calamari, bacon-wrapped shrimp with sweet-and-sour sauce, and takoyaki (deep-fried octopus balls) with bonito flakes and tonkatsu sauce. Salmon or tuna is “dressed up” with avocado, masago and karashi sauce, while octopus carpaccio is spiked with jalapeño and yuzu. “Tuna on Earth” is a spicy tuna mix served over eggplant tempura with a kicked-up sauce, and a large repertoire of cleverly named, saucy specialty rolls keeps the regulars happy. A very limited list of wine and saké is offered, and dessert usually consists of tempura-fried green tea ice cream or a selection of mochi.
