Bang Bang Pie Shop Restaurant Review:
A “kickstarter” business-turned-food truck went legit at this sweet, angular pie shop in Logan Square, which uses house-churned butter and lard for its flaky crusts. It shows in the results: pies with seasonal, local and definitely special fillings justifiably fuel a craze. Add house-roasted coffee and jam and specialty butter-topped biscuits, and it’s easy to see why people want to linger in the vintage-feeling storefront belonging to Dave and Megan Miller and Michael Ciapciak. A savory menu with ginger-sage sausage, cheddar cheese biscuits, maple-glazed ham and fried chicken makes the place an indulgent breakfast and lunch stop, too. Come warmer weather, request to be seated at one of the picnic tables.
