Barnaby's Restaurant Review:
On the edge of River Oaks, this second outpost of Barnaby’s is a neighborhood destination. The polished spot with a sunny patio has the same whimsical doggie-bone motif of the lower Montrose original, and the patio is dog-friendly, so bring Fido along. Home-style comfort cooking includes heaping portions of Doctor Gale’s meatloaf, big burgers served with crispy fries, a creamy chicken salad sandwich with pesto and artichoke hearts, and two kinds of lasagna. Simple and substantial breakfasts are served until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday and feature everything from a typical Texas breakfast burrito to a plate of green eggs (eggs scrambled with spinach, artichoke hearts and jack cheese). Sunday mornings are always packed, so arrive early if you want a seat on the bustling patio. Want to feel like a kid again? Try the big Rice Krispy treat for dessert. Barnaby’s offers a small wine list.
