Basil Thai Restaurant Restaurant Review:
This compact Thai restaurant attracts a young crowd, who like the hard-edged colors and for-sale artwork decorating the walls. They also come for the Thai cooking, although it doesn't fully explore the great cuisine. Still, what comes from the kitchen is sound and true to its origins. On the menu, the hot dishes are marked with chilies. Start with tod mun (fishcakes) or fried tofu. Other good dishes: kanom jeeb (steamed dumplings with tamarind dipping sauce); crispy fish; red duck curry; and drunken noodles. If you drop in for lunch, you'll find several specials that include crispy won ton or fried bean curd with pad thai, a curry or a stir-fry entrée. Desserts feature mango and sticky rice.
