Basilic Restaurant Restaurant Review:
French-Swiss bistro Basilic is a tiny space (only 24 seats) on Balboa Island's charming Marine Avenue. While the menu features French (steak au poivre, coq au vin, carre d'agneau) and Swiss classics (raclette, emincé de veau Zurichois), chef and proprietor Bernard Althaus also creates seasonally inspired dishes each night. For a gourmand experience, opt for the five-course prix-fixe menu, which must be ordered for the entire table. In winter only, chef Althaus hosts monthly all-you-can-eat raclette nights. The wine list features well-picked bottles mostly from California's Napa Valley, France and Switzerland.
