THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Beaver's West Restaurant Review:
The second incarnation of Beaver’s Ice House in the Washington Corridor is the bigger, bolder cousin of the original. The complex is huge: a main restaurant with an adults-only bar area; an outdoor section with games; a vintage trailer-cum-bar and fire pits; and a special events space called the Barn. Inside the primary building, which looks like a hunting lodge on steroids, you’ll find the same cool cocktails along with iced coffee and craft cocktails on tap as well as some of the food, but also an enhanced menu. Yes, barbecue is still the focus (there are two pit smokers) but also Gulf Coast seafood and a little bit of Cajun and Mexican fare thrown in. Try the Hot Hen, a spicy fried Cornish game hen drenched in hot sauce. Don’t pass up the spicy fried deviled eggs or the barbecued oysters with bacon chimichurri as starters. Choose from tacos and burgers, like the Beaver Belly burger topped with candied pork belly, and big salads. But why would you come here if not for the meats? Expect mac ‘n’ cheese for the kids, deep-fried brownie balls for the kid in us all and an interesting wine list for a barbecue joint.
