Becco Restaurant Review:

Owners Joseph Bastianich and his mother, Lidia, felt that the Theater District needed a touch of her Felidia Ristorante at a more attractive price point---thus Becco. The name is derived from the Italian verb, beccare, meaning to peck, nibble or savor something. Savor the moderately priced prix-fixe or á la carte enormous meals that may start with a classic Caesar salad, antipasto misto, Prince Edward Island mussels steamed in garlic and basil or buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and an arugula salad. Move on to unlimited helpings of three daily pasta specials, the 32-ounce porterhouse steak, the 26-ounce grilled veal chop or a whole fish such as grilled swordfish or salmon. The wine list is a deal, too, with more than 100 red and white Italian wines by the bottle available for only $18 (or choose from the pricier reserve list).
