Beijing DaDong Roast Duck Restaurant Restaurant Review:
DaDong’s ducks are crisp and lean, and are offered with many dipping sauces. The roast duck is presented with just the right amount of ceremony at the table and waitresses kindly demonstrate the art of duck pancake construction for the uninitiated. The menu has close-up photos of dishes and English translations, and is easy to navigate. But there’s much more than just duck. Try the stewed cod in a pumpkin bowl or choose from a number of imaginative seafood and vegetarian options, such as iced rose flower soup and a pot of bubbling sour Mandarin fish. We suggest the mango and creamy coconut dessert to end the meal. It’s best to stick to local beers to complement the food here. Service, while polite and efficient, can be a bit brusque. The décor is an offbeat mix of traditional---the tables are made of dragon-etched wood---and modern, with glowing wall panels seared with a bamboo design.
