THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Benihana of Tokyo Restaurant Review:
Long before this country's Pan-Asian and Pacific-Rim culinary boom, there was Benihana. Sit either around a communal chef station, where hibachi and teriyaki dishes are prepared before your eyes, or at a private table. Sample hibachi shrimp, scallop or calamari for starters, and try the snapper teriyaki or the Splash 'N Meadow (combo of shrimp and steak) entrées. Wash them down with an ice-cold Sapporo beer, hot sake, or an iced, sweet plum wine. Crispy, creamy, hot banana tempura with ice cream is a dessert well worth the calories. Lunch or dinner downstairs at the sushi bar is a pleasant way to escape both the heat of the day and the heat of the hibachi.
