Birraporetti's Restaurant Review:
This downtown dining room clings to the style of the seventies, which was Birraporetti's heyday. Heavy dark wood, extra orders of garlic bread and little house salads on chilled saucers set the tone. If you are taking the kids to the Alley Theatre, Birra's is a good environment for dressy dresses and childlike manners. The restaurant's straightforward pastas and friendly wine list make it a respectable choice for diners on a budget, but the best bargain is probably pizza, most notably the classic pepperoni pie with a thin crust and generous ladles of velvety tomato sauce, as unaltered and dependable as a cold Coca-Cola. The bar scene at happy hour is pretty packed, as is the Sunday jazz brunch with its bottomless mimosas and Bellinis.
