Bites Asian Kitchen + Bar
Asian-inspired fare in Wrigleyville.
Bites Asian Kitchen + Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: An 80s-90s soundtrack sets a nostalgic vibe inside this stylish Asian restaurant, whose menu blends the familiar with modern tastes. Wood-paneled walls and wood tables add warmth to the simple dining room, where light streams in from bustling Clark Street, the main artery of Wrigleyville. Friendly servers bring steaming hot bowls of tonkotsu ramen and smaller nibbles to a youthful crowd of girlfriends lunching and the neighbors from Boystown.
Likes: Warm service, diverse crowd and generous portions.
Dislikes: The ramen noodles stuck together.
Food & Drinks: Don’t be fooled by the name: The “bites” are nowhere tiny. Diners will walk out completely satisfied from the ample portions of appetizers, mains and desserts. Start with the sweet, meaty chicken wings with sticky rice, served in a cute heart-shaped bowl. Presented sticking up in a tin, taro fries are addictive and designed for sharing. Hunky main dishes can also be passed around. Tonkotsu ramen can be customized with a choice of pork, tofu or shrimp; choose the pork, two large planks of meat swimming among seaweed, hardboiled egg and squishy noodles in a mild broth. A spicy General’s Chicken Sandwich is the foil to its side of honey-butter chips. Skip dessert for a robust Thai coffee, served cold or hot.
