Black Dog Gelato Restaurant Review:
To the collective relief of sweets-seekers who previously sought Jessie Oloroso’s icy treats around town, a proper storefront now proffers her creative, contemporary creations. (Incidentally, there’s also a pushcart tempting passersby around town, so watch out.) Oloroso, ex-Scylla, is a pastry chef by trade, and her background informs flavors, which often play upon both the savory and sweet. Not to be missed is the lush goat cheese-cashew caramel, but we also suggest the malted vanilla and Turkish coffee. The only problem, as we see it, is the demand; in other words, don’t be surprised if flavors, like salted peanut and sesame fig, have been licked up in advance of your visit. Still, should it happen, it's a good case for ordering a gelato cookie sandwich.
