Black Hogg Restaurant Review:
Chef/owner Eric Park, formerly of New York’s The Spotted Pig, settled in Silver Lake with this modern space done in blonde wood and vintage mirrors. And as one might expect, his expertise with pork fat is on full display. A must for the table are the addictive deep-fried nuggets of slab bacon called "Popcorn" bacon, with a maple dipping sauce; pork belly tacos and jalapeño relish represent another pork-centric starter. But you can also find chicken liver toast and even some baguette slices topped with uni and scallions. Ale-battered cod with house-made chips, a chop from a heritage hog, and a lamb burger crowned with habanero-spiced onions and blue cheese are among other entrées. Bread pudding makes a suitable finish. A short but eclectic wine list is available, as are rotating craft beers.
