BO-beau kitchen + roof tap Restaurant Review:
There are two sides to this modern restaurant located in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Downstairs, you’ll find a romantic bistro-style space replete with intimate lighting and a subdued bar hosting a list of more than 100 vodkas. Head upstairs and you’ll be engulfed in a lively rooftop “beer garden” environment with communal tables, skyline views, live music and lunch service on the weekend. Chef James Stephenson has created different contemporary menus for both floors, each of which dutifully connects with the respective vibe of the place. The downstairs crowd can enjoy French-inspired starters like croque monsieur or Burgundy-style escargots, as well as mains of steak onglet with wild mushroom ragoût. Those headed to the second floor may order up casual fare fit for outdoor consumption, such as a flatbread, fish 'n' chips or the smoked turkey Monte Cristo. Classic desserts such as the vanilla bean crème brûlée are worth ordering regardless of where you sit.
