Bo Ling's Restaurant Review:
Richard and Theresa Ng have worked hard to assemble six restaurants that serve fresh, flavorful Chinese food. Richard was hand-picked to attend cooking classes in Taipei, Taiwan, as part of an effort to preserve traditional Chinese cooking. As a result, the menu includes a range of authentic soups, noodles, rice and meat dishes and house specialties. You’ll find Cantonese lettuce wraps, crispy eggplant, Bo Ling's fried noodles, Beijing roasted duck and orange peel shrimp. If available, try the homemade tofu in ginger syrup for dessert; made without eggs or milk, it's light and refreshing. On weekends, dim sum rules at the Plaza restaurant with 50 items every week, including a wide range of steamed or fried, hot or cold, savory or sweet choices. Best bets: the steamed barbecue pork buns, shrimp dumplings, stuffed eggplant and the siu mai dumplings. For dessert, we like the coconut tarts. The City Market locale breaks with tradition and serves dim sum daily. Other locations.
