THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Boulevard Restaurant Review:
Run by Jorge and Jean-Paul Varona, an experienced and hospitable pair of Cuban-American brothers, this diminutive storefront bistro adds a touch of graduating class to the forever-freshman Hollywood dining scene. Attentiveness and warmth on behalf of the servers is clearly a trickle-down effect from management. As far as the globally inspired menu goes, the clash of Latin-Asian-Italian-Cajun influences can initially seem like a culinary cacophony, but there’s no denying that a calabaza soup sprinkled with churrasco and the mussels in ginger, curry and coconut milk are as exactingly prepared as the wild mushroom risotto and the Bayou shrimp seared in an iron skillet. A small but select wine list is a pleasure to peruse, and beer aficionados are equally looked-after with a choice of microbrews and imports, including some elusive Belgian ales.
