The Bowery Restaurant Review:

This New York-style bar and gastropub/bistro from restaurateur George Abou-Daoud --- his other eateries include Delancey and The Mercantile --- serves up accessible fare in a laid-back setting. Dinner starters include sweet corn-and-crab fritters, mac ‘n’ cheese gratin, and a take on the French-Canadian dish poutine (fries bathed in gravy). Reasonably priced entrées include moules frites, short ribs and steak frites, but the main event is the eight-ounce sirloin burger (sandwiched between an English muffin) that can be dressed up with St. André cheese, red onion confit and your choice of condiments and sauces. The buttermilk-battered onion rings should not be missed, and you can wash them down with a handcrafted beer from California or Europe --- or even a nostalgic Pabst Blue Ribbon in a can --- then finish with New York cheesecake. For what is essentially a bar, The Bowery also offers a very workable little wine list.
