The BrickYard Restaurant Review:
Prominently situated on the corner of Sixth and Main, The BrickYard brings a touch of elegance to the college quarter with its cream and dark brown leather booths, oak hardwood floors, intimate paper-shade lighting, and gentle, live piano music. Adding a slight edge are the occasional exposed red brick walls. While there is a simple lunch menu, it’s the steakhouse and cocktails persona that attracts the crowds. For starters, choose savory oysters Rockefeller or spicy tuna tartare. There are plenty of entrées, including a tangy Berkshire pork shank, tender diver scallops, and crispy seared duck with a cherry balsamic au jus, but we recommend choosing a steak. From rib-eye to filet mignon to Châteaubriand, the hand-cut beef is generously portioned and shows good marbling. If you want to eat local, order the Idaho Wagyu Kobe sirloin, one of the state’s most flavorful cuts from Snake River Farms. Come in early for half-off quaffs of quality Scotch and bourbon, and if cocktails are your thing, the bartenders may just make the best Old Fashioned in town.
